Regardless of where you live and which midwifery clinic you are registered at, you can choose to have your ultrasounds with us when you are pregnant. If you come with a referral and are registered in Sweden, the visit is free of charge.

If you wish to have an ultrasound or prenatal diagnostics beyond what is included in the regionally funded care, or if you are not registered in Sweden, you can do this with us and pay privately.

Ultrasound and Prenatal Screening
All prenatal screening is voluntary. In Stockholm County, all pregnant women who wish to can be offered a first trimester ultrasound (FTUL) or a combined ultrasound and blood test (KUB) at weeks 12–13+6, as well as a routine ultrasound (RUL) at weeks 19–20.
In some cases, there may be medical reasons for additional examinations, for which your doctor or midwife will issue a referral.
Ultrasound is safe. An ultrasound probe sends out weak sound waves that bounce off tissues and organs and are converted into the moving images displayed on the screen. The fetus is seen in cross-section on the screen. While much can be examined during an ultrasound, not all abnormalities or conditions can be detected. Neither ultrasound nor NIPT can cause miscarriage.
