3D ultrasound with Growth Monitoring (week 24-30)
As a pregnant woman, you may sometimes feel the need for additional reassurance that the pregnancy is progressing as expected. At Blicka Ultrasound Clinic in Täby, we offer extra checks that you, as a patient, pay for yourself. You do not need to be registered in Stockholm to book a private ultrasound with us.
What do you find out during Growth Monitoring?
During a Growth Monitoring, the child's head, abdomen, and thigh bone are measured to estimate the approximate weight. This allows for determining whether the child is within the normal growth curve or if the child is larger or smaller. Furthermore, the child's heart activity, fetal movements, fetal position, amniotic fluid volume, and placenta placement are checked. Blood flow through the umbilical cord can also be assessed.
What is 3D/4D ultrasound
A 3D ultrasound provides a three-dimensional image of the baby in the womb, which can give a more detailed and lifelike picture. Many parents find that 3D ultrasounds offer a more personal experience and can make it easier to bond with their unborn child.
4D shows the fetus's movements and provides a lively 3D film. If you are lucky, you might capture the moment when the baby yawns, sucks on their hand, or stretches.
When can one do a growth assessment?
Growth monitoring can be done from week 24 and throughout the pregnancy, and it can be repeated to follow the growth, but most frequently at 14-day intervals. The later in the pregnancy, the harder it usually becomes to see the baby in its entirety on the screen, as there is less space and the baby lies deeper into the pelvis.
When is the best time to do 3D/4D ultrasound?
Crucial for obtaining good and clear 3D/4D images is the position of the child and the presence of sufficient amniotic fluid in front of the face. The best conditions are therefore between week 24-30. High BMI and scar tissue can affect image quality.

The examination is performed by experienced midwives with the latest equipment. We place great importance on a safe and calm approach and ensuring that you have a pleasant time during your visit. If the growth shows any deviations, we will assist you according to applicable guidelines with adequate follow-up.
Photo and film
If the child is in a position where no images can be taken at all, a free follow-up visit is offered, or alternatively, only pay for the Growth Monitoring (900 SEK 30 min / 1200 SEK 60 min)

Growth Monitoring with 3D (photo) 30 min, 1200 kr.
Three printed photos from the examination are included as well as digital images.
