Growth Monitoring (week 24-41)
As a pregnant woman, you may sometimes feel the need for additional reassurance that the pregnancy is progressing as expected. At Blicka Ultrasound Clinic in Täby, we offer extra checks that you, as a patient, pay for yourself. You do not need to be registered in Stockholm to book a private ultrasound with us.
What do you find out during a Growth Monitoring?
During a Growth Monitoring, the child's head, abdomen, and thigh bone are measured to estimate the approximate weight. This allows for determining whether the child is within the normal growth curve or if the child is larger or smaller. Furthermore, the child's heart activity, fetal movements, fetal position, amniotic fluid volume, and placenta placement are checked. Blood flow through the umbilical cord can also be assessed.
When can one do a Growth Monitoring
Growth monitoring can be done from week 24 and throughout the pregnancy and can be repeated to follow the growth, but most frequently with intervals of 14 days. The later in the pregnancy it gets, the harder it usually is to see the baby in its entirety on the screen since it becomes more cramped and the baby is positioned lower towards the pelvis. However, later in the pregnancy it is safer to estimate the estimated birth weight.
Safe and professional
The examination is performed by experienced midwives with the latest equipment. We place great emphasis on a safe and calm approach and ensuring you have a pleasant time during your visit. If the child is larger or smaller than normal, we will assist you according to current guidelines for further management.
Photo and film
A printed photo from the examination is included if the child's position allows it.
